I have DDR Max 2 for my ps2 (and the beat mat). My favorite song is either Breakdown or Tomorrow Perfume (this week anyway). I play mostly on Light, and some Standard. I can't do very well on Heavy Mode, though.

My DDR experience

I used to be a total freak about DDR, spending days and nights printing out arrows, listening to MP3's of "End of the Century", and stomping on the Pergo(r) floor. I've died down, but about 3 times a year, I can go up to Standard, 4-5 little foot marks of difficulty. :dance:

I am just now getting to 4 feet... I have a hard time with the 90 degree combo steps and the half beats... As soon as I get over that hurdle, I'll try for harder stuff...

Oh, and I also have a hard time with really slow songs (like "Tubthumping")

Oh my gosh you mentioned DDR *goes into a frenzy*

I love that game :D I play Stepmania at home. I have 3rd, 4th, 4th Plus, and 5th mix songs, and some originals done by random people ^^

My favorite songs are Absolute, Break Down!, Dive, .59, Dam Dariram, Orion .78 AMeuro Mix (weird but I like it), Matsuri Japan, Burnin' The Floor (the -steps-, not the actual -song-), etc, etc, etc. ^_^;

-_- The 4-foot-hurdle is a hard one to get over. It's difficult to break into the Trick/Standard area. But you'll get it ^_^ I did, so there's hope for anyone else...lol.

Right now I can play on all difficulties(except maybe Challenge mode), but a lot of 9-footers still give me heck, and I don't even think about 10-footers....o.O This is on my fingers mind you...on my feet the highest I can go is 7 feet ^_____^;;;

Fingers is easier and harder... I mean, it's not exercise like the real DDR is, but it has it's own hurdles... One being Carpal Tunnel Syndrome...

I can often do the 90 degree combos on fingers, but almost never on feet...

I think he meant the controller.

Anyway, I wish I could get DDR but I don't own a playstation so I can only play it at arcades or at my friend's house ;) Some of my favorite tunes are Break Down, End of the Century, and B4U

Stupid rip off

i wish i could play it. But the few stinky Arcades we have in town all have "Pump it Up" There's in N'Sync song on it....need i say more? But, i guess once somone around here gets a real DDR machine (or i get the game myself) i'll have the basic feeling for it...stupid rip offs.

Got DDR Max 2 for christmas... Adjusting to the Cheap plastic pad has been hard, but I'm pretty well adjusted and love it...

I'm up to 4 feet in most cases, but it's not consistant... One song at 3 feet I can't do, and one at 6 I can do... Hmm...

My favorite song right now is "Break Down" because it's J-pop and sounds like the opening to an anime... And it's not techno, which gets repetitive and boring... Otherwise, I like "Days go by" and "Can't stop Falling in Love" but I really miss "Butterfly" which isn't on this (neither are Boom Boom Dollar, Hero, Have you never been Mellow, Mr Wonderful, 1 2 3 4 007, El Ritmo Tropical, or Kung Fu Fighting, all of which I loved from DDR 4th mix plus in the arcade)

How much does the dance pad cost? I've been interested in DDR for some time...

I think you can get a soft pad at like, GameStop for about 25-30 bucks.

The good ones are $1

Volt wrote:The good ones are $100 bucks But let me be the one to tell you they are WONDERFUL. High quality materials and they last a lot longer than the others. And also because of the padding and materials used the pad is completely flat, it doesn't fold unless you unzip it and take it apart. And it doesn't slip and slide around on the floor ( both carpet and wood)

Well, the 100 dollar pads are in-between... The best ones are 300 dollars. They're called "Cobalt Flux" pads, and they are supposed to be just like the arcade versions, except for the extra butons (X, O, Start, Select)

The cheapest ones can be attained for 20 bucks... They aren't supposed to last very long, and the slip around a lot... Mine hasn't broken yet, though... And I dance a lot and hard...

If you're a DDR fan, you'll want a PS2... They have it for X-box and for computer, but not nearly as much to offer as teh PS2 (since you can play all 5 US released games on PS2)

I used to play DDR. I played around with 6 and 7 foot difficulty songs and then I just got bored with it. I guess I just found a better game and better music in Pump It Up!, which is the only dance simulation I do right now.
