Topic.
The much looked forward to sequal of Final Fantasy X was released a couple days ago. Has anyone gotton it yet? What is everyone's impressions on it? I don't have it yet but am very likely going to get it soon. The first Final Fantasy X was one of my favorite games.
Comments? Rants? Opinions? Anyone?

I'm afraid I went out and bought it. While I haven't started playing the game seriously yet (I usually "test" new rpgs by playing about an hour into them), it's safe to say - I was wrong in my initial cynicism about the game. I already love the battle system, and the some of the comments that the girls make are hilarious. I thought the music would be a big turn-off for me, but it wasn't really. It's obviously not going to be an epic game by any means, but it's already fun. The Charlie's Angels type approach wasn't as bad as I was dreading. While the game will get serious later on, I think anyone who was a fan of FFX will enjoy this - especially if you're already fond of the characters. Whether you'll want to wait for the price to go down or something ... well, that may be another matter. I really can't say yet, since I'm only an hour in. Where Yuna was very serious in FFX, it's nice to see more of her personality and watch her, shall we say "loosen up a bit"? (*ahem* that wasn't referring to her new taste in clothing
)
After downloading and watching so many versions of previews for this game that featured the Japanese Real Emotion, it was very odd to hear it in English. I was wondering if they were going to translate the main song or not, since they did for VIII and IX but not for X.
And I get a huge kick out of the way Yuna runs, because I used to play sports with a girl that would run
exactly like that.
All in all, I like it very much so far. *Does Rikku's new hop hop victory dance*

I honestly can't say whether I like it or not. I'm playing it in Japanese and missing the largest portions of the dialogue. I'm about 5 hours in, and not sure what is going on. I may have to borrow the english version from someone to figure out the infrastructure...
I'll end up buying the new one, but not until I've given up on understanding everything in this one. Incidentally, I was quite pleased that I was able to figure out the majority of the menu system:
-> はい
-> いいえ

A friend of mine has it. He likes it, but he said it's more of a game to keep you entertain till' 12 is released. Yeah, he says the music is really sad.

Once again I expect the UK release date will be at least six months later. I really don't know why they delay euro release dates. Totally stupid

FFX-2...ITS AWESOME!!! O_O Well, it is :p. So far I'm at chapter 5 with 65% completion...It's gonna take me two tries to get the 100% completion and the perfect ending. I think its a great game and I think that making a sequal was a good thing to do. The battle system is awesome, the music is good...even though there is no Nobou..., the characters are great, the dresses are awesome, and well...the whole game is awesome lol. OK I've said my piece :p.

Indeed it is rather sweet...I am about 12 hours in....laughs, 8 of which were me falling asleep last night playing it..but going hunting at the crack of dawn..working an 8 hour day...and then getting online..then to go play games...makes a man tired i guess lol. However, what I have seen has been cool.

I think the criticism might well come down to the fact that the game appears to sucki a bit when you read about it (in a similar way to Kingdom Hearts), but when you actually get to play it it's really good. I'll have to check this out at some point, but I can't be bothered to import at this stage

Yes, I think so too. I remember that I couldn't believe it when I heard Square was making a Disney/FF mix. Something about Goofy and Sephiroth being in the same game ... I was totally prepared to mock it endlessly. Then I saw a ps2 preview for it - then my tune changed drastically. The game I thought I would hate I ended up getting it right on the release date. Same thing happened with FFX-2.

The fact that the graphics are cool in KH does not, IMHO, make it appropriate to have goofy and sepiroth in the same game. That's just.... WRONG!

But in the end...when Sephiroth falls from the ceiling and stabs Goofie..that was so funny!

I got it this past Christmas and I'm playing through my third time. I've completed 93% and have every single dressphere except for one. Of course, I did get my sister to find out how to get all the dresspheres online...
But never mind about that. It's the first final fantasy game I've ever played, and I have to say I am thoroughly intrigued. Although I have to say that Leblanc scares me beyond all reason.
And I don't know how to do the spoiler-bracket-ma-bobber things, so in order to say what I wish, I shall put it as an attachment. Ja ne!

I think the game was actually very good. I bought it the day it came out and it was as **** good as I thought it to be. The only thing I wish they had on the game would be over drives. Even though this doesnt take away from the game one bit Im was wondering how they would fit it in. Anyways thats my 2 cents.

I guess I'll have to be the party crasher and say that I REALLY didn't life FFX-2 that much. ^^; A small list of my complaints with the game:
- the dress sphere idea wasn't bad at all, but did all the costumes HAVE to be boob flapping and thong revealing? Really doesn't make the game's reputation as merciless male fanservice any better.
- the music was a letdown. End of story.
- not much to say on the jump/climb functions. Didn't really add to the game, but it didn't take away much either. So much for Square's "innovation"
- Paine was too much of a desperate attempt to roll the characters of Lulu and Auron into one. Definite minus points there.
- FFX didn't need a sequel that doesn't continue or wrap up the original story. I was hoping for a bit more in that department
- that hot spring scene. >< End of story
But on the upside, I did like the battle system! ^^;

I liked it. It's fun. I completed 100% of it, yay!
Although, the perfect ending wasn't worth 70+ hours of gameplay, in my opinion.

I feel for ya man. Everything gets released here about 6 months after it does in america and we're left hanging ( and there are only a third of the american animes available to us Brits, curse region 1 dvd...'starts crying'...)
Anywho...personally I though FF10 sucked...no really im being serious...it was waaaaaay too short. Im gonna pretend X-2 doesn't exist and skip to the next final fantasy...COME ON CRYSTAL CHRONICALS!!! (Final Fantasy 9 was the best one)

Two years after the events of Final Fantasy X, Yuna finds a sphere that shows a mysterious and imprisoned man that looks uncannily similar to Tidus. Determined to find answers and hoping that she can be reunited with Tidus, she becomes a sphere hunter along with her cousin Rikku and a mysterious young woman named Paine. The trio must complete missions and find old spheres all the while trying desperately to keep the peace between several rival political factions as The Eternal Calm threatens to fall apart around them...
That's about the gist of it.

well...if I lose enough brains cells one day, I might actually play it, but I'll stick to watching my sister beat it for now. It's got really long load times, though.
