Has anyone here ever made step files for Stepmania or Dance With Intensity?

Just wondering since I was working on one (not to mention I did some kickin' steps and it didn't save right...arrrr, I be mad).

The Stepmania editor = pain in the butt. -___- I'm doing steps to a Five Iron Frenzy song ^^;; Maybe if I ever get it done I'll put it somewhere where people can DL it. That's if the editor ever SAVES the file!! Arrr.

Yeah, we had trouble with it saving. SH, when you get the song done and it doesn't appear to update, restart Stepmania. Sometimes it won't show properly unless you do. -_-

That's OK, mine are lame too and I just keep doing it anyway...he he I have found out since I started making step files that my timing really stinks. It's depressing to see how bad your timing is...LOL

I remember reading that Stepmania has bugs and can't properly save a DWI file. You should use another t00l. Which one? Sorry, never made my own steps. I'm currently having fun with TM4+ bracket, songs such as 11 eleven [Cyber X feat. Misono], Torinouta (The Speedfreak's Noise Rave Mix), Evolution (UFO Remix), and anything by Lee Jung Hyun. :thumb: Oh, and the #1 song in the bracket, hands down: Sugar in the Marmalade! I'm going to go play it right now!

Shu-shu-shuga in da mah-ma-lade!!!!

Why bother saving it as a .dwi though? Just save it as .sm.

My DWI files are saving fine, they're just not updating within Stepmania properly. Although I'll bet they (the Stepmania people) make minor releases all the time for this stuff. When I save, it says it saves as both DWI and SM, so...I don't know enough about the file formats and I'm too lazy to go poke around to see the difference.

wow. that turned out to be a longer stepmania session than I planned.

Anyways, most step sets I see are DWI.. it seems to be the standard format to use, since it can be handled by SM and DWI both. I know some people who actually prefer DWI over stepmania.

I'm too lazy to DL DWI. ^^

BTW, does anyone know any other way to establish the BPM without having to open the SM/DWI file in Notepad and put it in there that way?

Yes, yes, certainly, but if you're going to play it in *Stepmania*, why *.dwi*? :P You can just leave it in its native format. :)

Just to make it more distributable. :) DWI is the kosher format to distribute steps in, that's all. Stepmania can play SM and DWI format steps. DWI can only play DWI's.

You'd never know the difference while playing it.
