I just downloaded some classic Colecovision games: Burgertime, DOnkey Kong, Ladybug, and Venture. Man, do I miss these games! What were some of your faves? (Note: I consider old school anything before Sega's Saturn)

Console or computer games? I played most of my games on the Commodore 64, and some on the Intellivision, Atari 2600 and an obscure computer called the Tomy Tutor.

You can pick either one, since games were made for both.

Final Fantasy 4!!! Man, that game rocks! And the original Starfox was also pretty tight. I kow it's not quite old enough to be considered "true old-school". But I used to loooove Starfox 64. My first system was actually a Nintendo 64, and I was still pretty much a little kid back then. so I pretty much grew around games like Starfox and Mariokart 64.

For computer... Commander Keen! Yay! (4th one of course). Hugo House of Horrors was a big game with me and my friends :/ 1st and 3rd ones were easy but the 2nd one was just WACKED!

colossal caves: the adventure... although i never did beat it....
And an antique SW text/menu based RPG i wrote in QB with elements of farming, trading, shopkeeping, battle, bounty hunting, city building, etc. I probably spent two years making it and another two playing it with my brother (up to 16 player)
Hmmm...I don't know if old homemade games count. It was pretty awesome though...even after i turned off the secret items to max out HP on my guy (and beat my brother after he wasted me almost with his farming empire)

Bubble Bobble
Bubble Bobble was awesome! One time, a couple of years ago, my family visited my grandparents. I was sick at the time, however, and totally felt like crap. But when we got to the hotel, they had a few old-school arcade games. Bubble Bobble was one of them, and man, I played the tar outta' that game. fond memories.

Bubble Bobble will forever be ingrained in my head as the game that I thought that if you talked smack to the enemies, they would get mad. If that was the case today, all of my games would be as hard as Ninja Gaiden.

I loved Bubble Bobble too!
I still have a NES, so I still play Super Mario Brothers (which I still haven't been able to beat.) My favorite NES games have to be Rainbow Islands, Trog, Bart vs. the World, and Duck Hunt--the dog is hilarious. I've played Zelda but I die in like the first 5-7 minutes of the game, so I don't think I can call it a favorite. I mean, I am horrible at that game. Come to think of it, I've never beaten a game.
But I still love to whittle the hours away trying.
I also have a Sega Genesis. This is the most advanced game system I own. I love Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Toy Story, and The Lion King.

Double Dragon 1 & 2, Megaman 2, Donkey Kong Jr., Rad Racer, Bubble Bobble, Duck Hunt, DuckTales, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers... and a whole slew of others I can't think off the top of my head :p
Genesis: Streets of Rage 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic and Knuckles... and a whole slew of others I can't think off the top of my head :p

And I have a ton of others included on Sega Saturn, Colecovision, Neo Geo, Game Boy, Game Gear/Master System, and Generation 1 Playstation (PSX) :p

Oh gosh, how could I forget Sonic the Hedgehog!
I used to love those games! I equally enjoyed 1, 2, & 3, but if I had to pick, it'd probably be 2. I have fond memories of playing it at my friend's house when I was a wee little kid. I used to have Sonic Mega Collection for my GameCube, but my mom made me get rid of it
. Oh well, i still have my Final Fantasy games, at least.

Here's a little DYK: The real reason they didn't use Mike Tyson in Punchout after awhile was because he'd been beaten by Buster Douglas, thus dethroning his champion status. It had nothing to do with his then-recent rape charges.

FFIII was FFVI in Japan, for the record.
Anyways, I have way to many fave old school games. It would take forever to list them here. But some of the more important ones:
Super Mario Land 2. Among the first games I ever owned, and a definate favorite.
Sonic. First console video game I ever owned. My fave of the old school ones was Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
Pokemon. I was so hooked on this game as a preteen. I must have played it hundreds of times.
Chrono Trigger. This game introduced me to RPG's beyond Pokemon.
Final Fantasy VI (III). Introduced me to RPG's beyond Chrono Trigger and resulted in RPG's becoming a new favorite genre.
Castlevania IV. Introduced me to another favorite series of all time.
Zelda 64. This game was magnificent. I still consider this the best game I ever played.
Seiken Densestu III. Never released in America, which is a shame because SD3 was the best in the series. I could play this forever.
Actraiser. A true underated classic.
Soul Blazer Trilogy. Another series of underated classics from Enix.

Absolutely anything on the Sega Genesis I love. Ranger X, Vectorman, Sonic, Landstalker, you name it. All great games.
And yeah! Intellivision! Gotta love Night Stalker, Burger Time, and Space Battle!

Ah, good times... good times...
I still play doom like everyday! for computer though =) you can download a client now where you can play online. Its so awesome =) the snes was very very lame!
Bubble bobble... GOSH that game was great. But that fricken song kept going and going and going!
NES was my first system. I played super mario bros and super mario bros 3 quite a bit. But nothing sparked my love for video games like sonic 2. This game sucked me into the world of video gaming and never released me!!! I am insane about video games now. But my love for video games seems to differ so much from every other video gamer i've talked to... I cant seem to get along well with other gamers (around here anyway).

Yeah, but SNES DOOM is something unique. The SNES wasn't really designed for that sort of game, and yet it still plays pretty well considering the limitations of the graphics hardware and the CPU (granted, the cartridge does carry a coprocessor).

NES: Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario Brothers 2, Duck Hunt, Top Gun, Spy vs. Spy, Double Dragon, Zelda,
SNES: Street Fighter Alpha, Super Mario RPG, Crono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, Jungle Strike, Desert Strike,
