Strong line-up for the Nintendo DS this year?

'bout dang time, eh folks? I dunno about ya'll, but my NDS has been an oversized GBA for a little longer than I hoped. So fortunately, it seems Nintendo hasn't abandoned this unique machine like it looked after the release and there is a stronger line-up of games coming *this* year.

So, without further delay let's talk about those games and Nintendo’s future in the struggle of the pocket....

List of promising DS games coming this year:[/B

(in order of release, not best)

[B]1.Kirby: Canvas Curse
– Yesterday - 8.6 from Gamespot and a 9.0 from IGN isn't something to ignore. From what I gather Kirby is on a quest for his arms and feet in this touch screen only game. So far, the only true complaints I see are that; the story is lacking and no multiplayer. Seeing how I look for neither in a Kirby game, I actually might be picking it up tomorrow if my store gets it in then. :)

2.Advance Wars: Dual Strike - 08/22/2005 - It's Advance Wars? Need I say more? No, but I will, because I'm always psyched about a new game from Intelligent Systems (Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, and GBA Advance Wars). Looks like there are tons of new COs (a screenshot gives the impression Orange Star has ten O_o) and a few new units like Aircraft carriers and stealth fighters (air artillery, is my guess).

3.Nintendogs – 08/22/2005 – I’ll wait for the reviews most definitely on this one, but I’ve got to give a thumbs up to Nintendo for making a solid effort to target non-gamers. If it does get great reviews, like in Japan, I’m at a lost of which version I’d get. My favorite doggies are scattered through out all of the versions (darn it), but most likely the one with the Huskies would be my pick.

4.Trace Memory - 09/26/2005 – Interesting looking puzzle adventure game.

5.Viewtiful Joe - 10/03/2005 – Not sure if the touch screen will help or hinder the solid gameplay of this fresh series.

6.Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - 10/03/2005 – I’ve always liked these Super Metroid feeling action games with RPG elements Konami has been giving us. Heck, Circle of the Moon is the reason why I bought a GBA at launch.

7.Metroid Prime: Hunters - 10/17/2005 – As long as there is a full fledge single player story mode, which there should be, I’m sold. The demo that came with the system, pretty much proved the system was a solid home for shooters. Sadly, Nintendo isn’t really a big FPS making, aside from this Metroid game. Maybe this game will spark the interest of other companies.

8.Mario Kart DS - 11/07/2005 – Mario Kart online sounds like a blast to me…. when I get a Wi-fi network in my house, that is.

9.Electroplankton - 11/14/2005 – Technically not a game, but a musical toy. Looks very creative and fun, but will it be worth the price?

10.Animal Crossing DS - 11/21/2005 – Finally, Animal Crossing on the go.

11.Mario & Luigi 2 - 11/21/2005 – Gameplay looks solid, but with it maintain the great sense of silly humor? -And what’s the touch screen for?

In my book, ten good-looking games in two and a half quarters ain’t bad. :)

What about the good ‘ol GBA?

At this point it would seem the GBA’s life is coming to an end with all these new DS games coming. Even though recently the GBA had two great hits come out (Fire Emblem and Wario Ware: Twisted), there is not much to look forward to in the future from what is announced, except Gunstar Heros in October. Now you may be asking, “what about the Gameboy Micro?’ Well, I’m asking the same question. It’s odd that Nintendo is releasing another rendition of the GBA, when there are not many big GBA games coming out then and the focus on games appear to be on the DS and Gamecube, especially Zelda. So, does Nintendo have more GBA games up its shelves for if the Micro sells well? Maybe so. Personally, I wouldn’t mind it. The DS plays both DS and GBA games. Then again, what about the future of the DS? Will the beginning of ’06 be a dead period for them? –Looks like most of the DS games and GCN games are set for the holidays. Also, the Revolution, *may* not appear (if Nintendo wants to avoid the PS3 hype) til’ Holiday ’06.

I don`t own a DS because my Dad said if i bought that, I would have to sell my GBA and then I could`nt play all my classic GB games. And plus I wanna buy a PSP.

What would save GBA? Remakes.

Double Dragon, Tetris, Final Fantasy VI, and Chrono Trigger.

I`m not a graphics freak, but a game is more enjoyable when the system and the graphics match. That`s why FF6 and Chrono Trigger weren`t as fun to me. They would be better on the GBA by far, and if I bought I DS, Double Dragon and tetris would be the games i`d miss.

All right! It's about time that the DS got more games in the mix. The main reason that I haven't gotten one yet is because I didn't see many good games for it, but now I may have to change my tune.

Kirby: Canvas Curse - I fell in love with Kirby games when I played one for the first time, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. I'm definitely looking forward to this one, though the touch screen does sound odd.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike - If there is any "one" reason that I would buy a DS it would be this game. This is the game that got me into TBS (Turn-Based Strategy) games. You said TEN commanders? That would be so awesome! I wonder what the new powers would be...

Animal Crossing - This is so great. This game is awesome for anyone who's always dreamed of wearing a big viking hat all day while living with really strange animals. But seriously, I'd suggest this game to anyone. The ability for multiple players to be in the same town at one time is very appealing to me.

Mario and Luigi 2 - I can't wait for this new addition to the Mario RPGs. The last one was hilarious and very fun to play.

Metroid and Mario Kart DS - I may get these games, but not until I get the others. (Or money's burning a hole in my pocket)

Has anyone heard if they're going to make a Fire Emblem for DS?

Is there an Eartbound remake for the GBA? For some odd reason, I think the previous poster would have a small interest in that.

Ryan is right, Tom, Mother 1 and 2 (Earthbound 0 and 1, as they're called Stateside) were recently rereleased in Japan on the GBA. And because Nintendo is a bunch of fruity morons, they're not planning on bringing it here. So that means you've gotta import it and learn Japanese. ><

*stabs stupid Nintendo executives*

Geez, looks like Nintendo is going to sucker me into buying a DS after all. Boo.

For RPG fans, Lunar: Dragon Song is also in development for the DS.

Pretty good for starters. Let's hope they keep it up.

Lunar is still alive, sweet! I mght buy one of them if it`s not one of those 'buy on eBay or online store for 200 dollars games.'

Definetly gettin' Metroid: Hunters, Castelvania, and Mario & Luigi 2. Maybe some of the others, like Kirby, but I'm also looking to see how Egg Monster Heroes will end up and I'm extremely anxious for FF3.

Still, there's many GBA games I want to get my hands on, like Sigma Star Saga.

It looks to me like the GBM is suppose to be like a Game Boy Micro. Still, I've heard that there'll be another Game Boy coming in the future that 's suppose to be pretty powerful (don't forget, the DS is the N's "third pillar", not a GB replacment).

there is a game coming out for the DS called Jump Superstars. It has alot of different charcters from anime and manga (hence Jump or rather should be ShoninJump since they are from there) battleing each other Smash Bros. style. Except they won't be chibi. there is also something of a card deck thing twisted into it. What do you guys think. My oppinion is hey they got kenshin, they got Goku, I'm okay.

And Luffy and Naruto, and possibly Yoh. Big plus, it's being made by Nintendo and not some small third party company.
The "card" thing looks like some sort of comic panels that let you perform special attacks. If it does well, I'll definetly be getting this one.

This line-up looks pretty decent. I have a DS, but the only games I think I will be buying are Jump Superstars (import) and Lunar: Dragon Song. Heh, beating up well-known shonen protagonists like Goku and Yoh as Kenshin is enough for me to import Jump Superstars.

Jump Superstars - sounds interesting. I'm only terribly interested in Shaman King and Naruto in the way of Shounen Jump series, but that looks like it's worth a gander. :( It's too bad they're keeping it just Shounen Jump series, I wanna see Sakura Kinoshita's characters lay the smackdown on one another!

Too bad I have a PSP
actually a Guilty Gear is coming out for that too.
That one is going to be a side-scroller I can't wait!

Sell it and get a DS!! You know you want to! XP
J/K. Don't want to start a debate or nuthin'...

I'm looking straight at Castlevania, the FF games, Jump Superstars, and Metroid: Hunters. Guilty Gear looks pretty good, too.

I can't stand those movie-games, though. I mean, they're just using the DS as another profit base that many people will buy, even if it's no different than the GBA version. XP

Meteos. I can't believe I forgot about this game. I got a chance to play it today and it's pretty sweet. I may have to pick this one up some time, although.... I still love Lumines. Yeah, I know Lumines and Meteos are two different beasts, but one puzzle game is normally enough for me.

Anyways, Meteos is worth a checking out, folks. :thumb:

It's extremely doubtful that the Jump Superstars game will be brought to the U.S. For one thing, it would be a legal nightmare. The sheer number of companies who own the licenses in America would make things impossibly complicated. That said, importing is still an option...

At any rate, games that I'm interested in are Castlevania, Lunar: Dragon Song, Metroid: Hunters, Mario & Luigi 2, possibly Lost in Blue and that new Kirby game ... I'll see...

If I have time and money, I might pick up Mario 64.
I just have to get a DS...

Yes. Out of the few games I have for my DS at the moment. (Super Mario, Wario Ware, and Meteos) Meteos is by far the best, easily worth the 9 points Nintendo gives it. Definetly worth every penny.

:(

I believe there is a Naruto game coming to DS, though. Hopefully that'll end up over here.
