A question for all of those gamers out there or at least a little help on a decision I'm trying to make. Currently, I have $35 extra right now to buy a game. I'm wondering, should I buy Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (X-box), Command and Conquer: Generals expansion pack (PC) , or another game under $35. Ok, I know, I'm gonna get C&C: x-pack sometime, so my real question is: Should I buy Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for the X-box? I saw it for $20 at Gamestop online and I heard the game was really good, but I want to know why it's rated M, from the perspective of a Christian who's played through it? BTW, I loved Splinter Cell and games with deep stories, also I heard it was similar combination. How is the game play? Is the story really deep and confusing? Also, I've never played a Metal Gear game and don't even know about da story.

P.S. If the story is really deep and confusing please, no spoilers and don't even post one please cause I WILL CLICK IT! lol

(Sorry, If this is jumbled and confusing.)

THANKS!!!!

Well, MGS2 is one of the more violent games. Unlike Cell, where you spend most of your time sneaking around, in Solid, there are places where you have to engage the enemy. There are some bad innuendos scattered through out the game that are sometimes hard to catch, and some are obvious. In addition, that are some excessively gory scenes as well.

As for the game itself, it does have a deep and engaging storyline, with some of the best voice acting in games that I've ever seen. It's primary theme is (based on past MG games) anti-nuclear proliferation/anti-war. It also makes you feel like you're watching a movie.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Thanks, Sangoku! I'm gonna wait for a few opinions to roll in before I make a decision. Violence really doesn't bother me, unless it's like GTA III or a gory joke like that Conker game. I guess, I should have clarified that. I do recall hearing something questionable pin-ups?

Well, you don't kill any civilians like in GTA 3, but the blood does gush out a lot, especially if you shoot the guys in the head or neck area and in some cut scenes. As for the pinups, the only ones that I came across are posters of women in bathing suits tacked on some of the doors and on the inside of lockers.

Just double checking, thanks! Questions for all: So, what did you think about the game? What version do you own?

(To restate: Just, collecting facts and opinion, before I buy.)

Thanks, again.

I thought about getting the one for Playstation but was a bit hesitant because I wasn't sure what the "Mature Sexual Themes" rating consisted of.
That is an absurdly vague rating descriptor however...

Sons of Liberty and Substance are an amazing game...(own both but pretty much the same thing) I love the MG series....and if I were you would put the cash towards a MG game before pretty much anything else...just my 2 cents.

You're telling me LOL! That's why I probably can't buy The Sims until I live on my own: because everyone would look on the box at that ratings descriptor and think it was porn or something-when from what I hear, it isn't.

^sigh^ that is absurdly vague.
