Breath of Fire: DQ (Or, why I will never buy another Capcom game. EVER.)

If you are concidering buying Capcom's game "Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter", don't. This game was a COMPLETE waste of money, for me. I liked it the first time I played it. WHEN IT WAS CALLED WILD ARMS AND HAD A DECENT PLOT!!! It's a tired concept, with one twist. Unlike most "rehashes" It has NO improvements whatsoever over any other games. Go buy Wild Arms 3. It's much better. If you are an avid gamer, boycott capcom alltogether. Maybe they'll get the hint and stop producing games like this.

Points:
- The game assumes you will fail.
- It uses "save tokens," and doesn't give you enough.
- It's a TIMED RPG.
- It's been done before...
- ...with a much better plot.
- The character development was poor.
- The cut scenes were cheesy.
- It appears that the game was rushed to market.
- You are limited to 8 items initially, and you have to keep retracing your steps to get to "town" where you can sell things back.
By 100 hours into the game, I was up to being able to carry less than 20 items. (There are at least 10 different status ailments - and you are allowed up to 10 of each item only.)
- There are NO "do-overs" without a "small" penulty. Get this, if a level is to hard for you, you can restart after you die (from your last save point) but the game TAKES AWAY SOME OF YOUR ITEMS AND LEVELS. IF I COULDN'T BEAT IT WITH THOSE ITEMS AND LEVELS, HOW THE COTTIN-PICKIN' SAM LOW-LIFE STINKIN' (insert the worst words YOU would use here...) HECK AM I GOING TO DO IT WITHOUT THEM?!?!?

Overall review:
I would review it on amazon, but the lowest review they lt you give is 1 star. I think this deserves -5 stars, and darn-it-all capcom, I want my money back!

I gave this game every bennifet of the doubt I could. I replayed it 3 times, using each of the replay options. Some of you know me, which will make this much more surprising. I finally just swore at it and microwaved the disc.

Congratulations, capcom. You have made an enemy for life out of a former fan.

That's a shame...

Hey! Street Fighter Anniversary Collection comes out next month (and Mega Man Anniversary Collection is out now)...is that enough to bring you back to the Capcom fold?

Most Capcom games (excluding the Resident Evil series) do have a certain style about them, which includes bright colors, flashy characters, shallow (yet unimportant) plots, and simple concepts that take a long time to master. If that doesn't appeal to you, then you won't find much to like in Capcom.
