Im curious what do you guys think is wrong in some games. I liked the freedom in Vice City but I just couldn't stand the pointless killing so now I refuse to play that and manhunt or whatever with such acts of violence and stuff. Playing halo doesnt bother me at least you kill aliens or buds  but its good to know its all fake and not real. Games like FF dont bother me, other people who are strickly against anything with false gods and magic it definitly bothers them. I dont believe in magic or the false Gods, as long as FF never has a summoning called Jesus Christ its fine by me. Its in the title after all Final "Fantasy" not real, fake and cant hurt you unless your stupid enough to believe that crap can happen. Anyways what do you guys think?

I don't like anything with sexual content or gratuitous violence (like Postal or Manhunt)

I don't understand why people have a problem with the Grand Theft Auto series really. I mean you don't have to kill a single person to play the game. Yes it's encouraged, but you could drive around all day doing 30 MPH and not hurt a single polygonal soul. It's all how you play the game.

Now Manhunt is a different story and smothering someone with a plastic bag is a little excessive.

Final Fantasy is fantasy plain and simple. I can't see people getting huffy over that but the strictest of people.

Videogames are just that a game. They do not in any way make a person any less or more violent. People are not stupid and know right from wrong though they love to scure the line between them. I've played dozens upon dozens of violent games and never had the urge to hurt someone from playing them. And the first time picked up Mortal Kombat was when I was six, and that was about as violent as it got back then.

True the first violent game I ever played was MK also but it never really bothered to me at such a young age I knew what was real from fake and stuff. You are right on the GTA just play it in a good way and it will be fine but I rahter just not play it again just knowing I can go around killing everyone just doesnt sit well with me anymore. I just hope games in the future wont get even more violent or sexual, and less curse words would be nice too.

It's pretty bad when an entire kingdom is in danger of being conquered, and the only one around to save the day is a pudgy plumber.

The theology in some games. Ex: Sonic Adventure 2
at the end where Amy tells Shadow people are mostly good and that's why he should save them.
Games where you spend 10+ hours beating them and then it turns out to all have been someone's dream...so aggravating.

Games where there's way too much stuff and secrets to get in order to finally have the perfect ending. I like secrets, just not ones where you have to go online to know 'em.

Violent games where the people don't have a chance to defend themselves. That really irks me.

What's wrong with some games? They were made for a console I don't have, that's what! (I had to buy a Game Boy Advance just for the Hamtaro games...)

I've never played one, but hentai games :/ Seriously....
Gotta make a few comments though:

Final Fantasy:
I think the series is great! Sure the games deal with magic, monsters, and whatnot, but it's not liek I'm going to practice magic or whatever at home! Once my step-dad sees me playing FFX and I summoned Ifrit and he said I was playing a Satanic Game. But really, it's not like that! At least I didn't summon Hades off FF7 though :/

Halo:
A VERY popular game to play in youth group! Too bad it was banned for a while since the old church board members deemed it too violent.
We even had a Halo competition at camp and some people didn't agree that it was a good game to play. *shrugs* It's a church camp and all, but it's just one of the events that Christians and non-Christians can enjoy. I personally don't really find it that violent. The blood looks pixeled anyways. Besides having no violent games period like Halo isn't fun for some, because we arent' ALL pshycho killers.

when games get the whole "replay value" idea wrong.
Examples:

1. Rise To Honor, PS2; There's an extras section with unlockable character pics, music, and a making-of video. Unfortunately, they become unlockable not as a result of beating the game, but rather as you progress through it. So, by the end, all that stuff is already open. They almost got it right.

2. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Sega Dreamcast; The extra costumes. Now, the Playstation version did it well. But in the Dreamcast version, the optional costumes are available immediately, the first time you play. It's almost an insult, really. It's as if the game developers said "We're not quite confident in your ability to beat this game and thereby unlock the extra costumes, so we're just gonna give them to you straightaway."

sex really bothers me in video games...

halo nights also bother me... two of my friends walked in on a halo night accidently, and they participants were acting like animals or something;)

Im not sure I have ever seen SEX in a video game. But I have seen sexualy sugestive scene's. Not that I aprove of them, but they have always been in some games. Only now that the graphics are better, its a big deal.

Like in Xenogears, there is a scene were two characters (of oposet sex) are 'sleeping' in the same bead. Its rather obvious that they are not just friends and probably arent there just 'hanging out' but the character models didnt allow for any detail so it slips by with a teen rating.

Now, if we remake the same secene with todays Ultra realistic graphics, it may not get the same rating. Think about FF7 and 'the Don' as well...

I also didnt like how Yuna had to wear extremely skimpy cloaths (in FFX-2) just 'free her self' from the berdens of being the high summoner. Or for any reason at all for that matter.

Sorry, things like this just make me so mad. And they make it darn hard for me to come up with good reasons why my wife shouldnt throw a fit when I want to buy a new game...
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

The only reason people don't like hamtaro is because it's made for kids, really... It a cute, ok kids show... Not much to it, I guess, but it's great for its purpose, much like Blue's Clues...

I have loved the Final Fantasy games except for a few things:

Madonna (As in "Mother of Jesus" not as in "Like a Virgin") in FF6... a little too close to home, I guess. Wasn't any more comfortable associating (that character) with Jesus than I was with, um, another character in a certain anime series... That minor note didn't bug me enough to stop me from playing, and subsequently LOVING the game, though.
Environmentalism and variation on the Gaia theory in FF7...
Doomtrain (666 is involved in getting it...) in FF8 (though I've always loved the "Train of the Dead" stories in anime and video games like Final Fantasy 6 and 8)
The whole Yevon religion and
subsequent rebellion against the Yevon teachings... I didn't like the whole "Praise Yevon" thing, but it bugged me more as I went on in the game because it really sounded like all of the rhetoric that people have used to argue against Chrstianity, and the followers of Yevon were even called priests (neutral), monks (only Catholicism and Buddhism had priests called monks (because of the isolation not because of position) as far as I know), and nuns (I think only Catholicism has nuns, I could be wrong) But you could honestly replace any use of "Yevon" early in the game before you fight Yunalesca and replace it with "God" or "Jesus" even though it's more likely an anti-religion sentiment than purely an anti-christian sentiment. Regardless, it bothered me.
I really shouldn't be bere... I may have to stop "reading" these threads, too, because I have to use the mouse to navigate in Firefox, and then I end up responding anyhow... My wrist, hand, and forearm are all throbbing in pain from typing this response and my last message, and now my left hand is starting to join in all the fun... Yay...
