Journal Entry: August 1, 1848-
As we left the impassible trail, we suddenly realized that RD has a snakebite. Having reoriented ourselves as the map indicated, we proceeded forward. Four days into our new trail, we discovered that it was also impassible.
Lord, guide us through this tribulation.
August 11, 1848-
I awoke this morning to discover my body covered in a rash. With my fever increasing, we identified it as measles. As we have not been in contact with the outside world, it was determined that the "Spray-o-matic" disease protections were to blame.
May God's judgement be just.
August 13, 1848-
A Shoshoni guide approached our wagon this morning. "God forbid that suspicious men tip over your wagon as it crosses! I will protect you, and aid you in crossing for the low, low price of 3 sets of clothing."
We accepted his offer, mindful of the "M" embroidered on his fine vest. As we prepared the Wagon for yet another fateful crossing, the guide haughtily chortled, "M will be pleased to hear that you have accepted my gracious offer."
With heavy hearts, we press forward. I pray that we pass this trial by God's good grace.
[font="Tahoma"][SIZE="2"]"It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."
