Ok, it's been long enough - someone else here besides me has to have beat the game. I'd love to go over thoughts and theories and stuff.

Heh, well, I haven't beaten the game yet unfortunately. I am currently in Chapter 3 so I'm about halfway or over halfway done.

I think I'll leave the topic now before I find out something I don't want to know yet.

Did you get the Perfect ending?

No, I didn't. I didn't use a guide or anything for my first run through - but I'd like to go back and do so.

In which ending? Sad, normal, happy, or perfect? And ... *narrows eyes* have you beat the game?

I'm going for the "Good" ending, "Happy" ending you called it.
...if I don't screw this up.

I already missed one of the dress spheres by accident.
:bang:

There is really no way one could possibly get the "Perfect" ending on the first play through unless one followed a good strategy guide to the letter which I'm not to keen on doing...
I'll use a walkthrough for a couple things but using one for everything ruins much of the fun, at least in my opinion.

I agree. And I missed a few dresspheres too. Paine's special one is the one that bugged me the most. *growls*

Is it a good game? I saw it on XPLay last night on Tech TV and it looked fun.

Funny... we haven't even gotten around to speaking about the ending yet (though we have been discussing endings in general). I just found that curious.

In any case, I haven't beaten FFX2... nor do I have any intention of even playing it. Not because I have something against it, but it'd be too much effort. However, I'm very curious as to the four different ways it can turn out, so I think I'll lurk in this thread.

Effort?
Hmmmmmm. It's not that tough.

Battle system takes some getting used to so it was somewhat hard at the beginning but I've really found it only slightly harder than FFX once you get the hang of it.

Of course, then there are your usual supply of annoying RPG mini-games...
Sphere Break...
Grrrrrrrrrrrr...

More along the lines of:
1) Buying a PS2
2) Buying the game
3) Finding time to play it

Not on my machine.

Actually, I just got very close, then their game rental expired.

I have a friend who owns FFX, I've been working on his system for years, just playing a little bit more every time. Most of my game knowledge (except from lower level game systems) comes from this manner of playing.

***extreme Spoiler***

Postby SamuraiX » Tue Jan 13, 2004 1:39 am

***DON'T READ ANYTHING HERE IF YOU HAVEN'T BEAT FFX-2 the first time***

I beat the game in two weeks (during winter break)... The game is very easy to beat compared to other Final Fantasy games. However, getting all the endings' quite a chore. I played it through the first time without any cheats or walk through, so i only got the cheap ending that first time... This is the ending that everyone gets. This ending in short is the ending with speeches from Nooj, Baralai, and Gippal at the stadium, like Yuna did in FFX ending. This ending also shows Yuna on the airship... that's about it... nothing much to it... The second time around... I got to see the following endings:

***DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE "TRUE ENDING"***

Then comes the True Ending... In short... Tidus wakes up in the water at besaid Island... Similar to way he first met Wakka in FFX. He swam toward the shore and the Gullwings approached him... Yuna jumps out of the Dullwings and gave him a hug... then there's a view of everyone on Besaid Island. Including Lulu's baby... Vidian??? Can't remember the lil guy's name... anyways... that's about it... If you want more detail, beat the game again! You can use this strategy guide to beat it and get 100%... I didn't make the strategy guide, so I take no credit... I give credit to the creator of the strategy guide...

http://faqs.ign.com/articles/456/456896p1.html

***DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE "ULTIMATE ENDING"***

Ultimate Ending (NOT A CG, just regular polygonal characters)... To get this ending... Personally, I can never get it without a strategy guide... Anyways, here it goes... Tidus talks to Yuna at Zanarkand Ruins, at first, his back is shown... Their entire conversation basically justifies that the fayths answered Yuna and brought Tidus back... Also, it confirms that they may live happily ever after, meaning that he won't disappear like he did in FFX's ending... Also, the place that they were standing (especially Yuna) is the same place that Tidus was standing in FFX's prelude, with the view of the Zanarkand Ruins and the pyreflies... Well, that's about it... That's basically all 3 endings in a nutshell... Hope you guys could beat the game yourself with 100% to see all the endings. GOOD LUCK!

My first time through I got a 67% and got the 'good/standard' ending (with just the speech by Noojie-Woojie, Baralia, and Gippal in Luca), but I'm replaying it now with the new game + option, and I'm just starting Chapter Five with a 90%.

Nice! I'll do that pretty soon. Noojie-Woojie - that's funny. I was pretty bummed with that ending until I found out there were more. There was a very sad Gypsy sitting on the couch at 4AM(!) saying things like 'How cheap was that?!' I did love the final version of 1000 Years.

This is kinda what I was looking forward to discussing. It's just a theory (and who knows if there's any real thought put into the background of games) but here it is:

Since Tidus was a really a dream of the Fayth, do you think that he was based on the Fayth's memories of Shuyin? (Obviously, FFX-2 was an afterthought, but this may be a way to actually make the story fit together nicely). This could also explain why Tidus had an attraction for a doomed summoner - much like Shuyin and Lenne.

And was anyone bummed that Auron made zero appearance except his voice?!

Yes. I didn't even play the game, and I was still upset (by this I mean as upset as one can become over a combination of code and colored pixels). It was one of the things that made me decide not to go to the effort of playing it.

But what does his voice say? I didn't realize he even got that.

Well, it was pretty hard to tell the difference between Auron and Jecht sometimes, but during the final battle, they cheered Yuna on. Things like "The time is now!" or "Yuna, you must defeat him!"

She also had a little conversation in her head with them directly before the final battle.

not to sound rude but my first time i beat the game with 96% and i did not have the guide and in all my gaming life that was one nightmare i do not what to go thought again but now that i the guide I WILL beat it with 100% as soon as i get time to play it again. Work is gaving overtime and I don't what to miss that.
I n September of 2012 Megaroad-01 was launched with an escort of fleet of zentraedi warships. From that point on the mass-production of the Megaroad -class colony ship began and soon long-range colony fleets were routinely being launched from earth solar system at a rate of 1-2 per year.
In September of 2022 Megaroad-19 colony ship with it’s escort fleet left earth and headed south fifteen degrees to the right of the southern star. On a mission with three objection; One to search for a planet to colonize, two to see what the rim of the galaxy looks like, three to see if any zentraedi fleets are out there. On July 21, 2025 Megaroad-19 entered its ninth star system and named it the sierra system.
Orbiting the third planet is an asteroid that was some ten miles in size, and a moon that was named Karla.

Braska was also one of the voices, I believe.

But, yeah, they kept yelling out encouragement and advice to Yuna and Co. during the final battles.

Something else I noticed. Seymour was listed under the cast credits at the end of the game but I don't remember hearing his voice anywhere. Anyone know what's up with that?

I got the normal ending because I forgot( :bang: ) to press 'X' at that field at the end of the game.
I think I'll replay that battle tomorrow and this time I won't forget.

This doesn't directly relate to the ending of FFX2, but it does relate to the world. Does anyone else think the name "Spira" is directly off the world "spiral?" I've had that in the back of my mind for some time, but after the Bevelle issue in FFX, I'm almost certain of it. [I just played yesterday. It was great, I obliterated Seymour. Auron was doing 9999 a hit.]

In "Baralai's Sphere" (You get it in Guadosalam in Chapter 5), it had Baralai and Seymour talking in it.
