Do you guys think this game will be good? I find it weird that shadow uses a gun. The opening theme makes me laugh for some reason. I dont know why.

I'm actually kinda interested in this one - Shadow is awesome, and though the idea of him still being around after SA2 kinda screws with the SA2 storyline, the explosions in the preview videos are enough to reel me in. XD;

It looks like an interesting game with the one exception that the videogame magazines have described early versions of it as showing the same flaws the previous 3D games have been plagued with since SA1. Hopefully Sega will actually attempt to give the game a clean polish by the actual release this time around.

Like I said in that thread way back Sega missed what made Sonic, Sonic when they took him to 3-D. They tried to make him like every other cute platforming mascot. Speed is what made Sonic different and none of the newer Sonic games have been able to pull that off. The original Sonic Adventures had its moments but even it was not very good in this area. I don't want to play just another platformer. These guys should of slaved away thinking how they could make the 3-D Sonic translate well into the 2-D Sonic of yesteryear instead of a creating a new mascot "with attitude" and a machinegun. My prediction is that it will be mediocre since history repeats itself all too often.

Is it just me, or is it kinda werid that this was announced to come out right after Dirge of Cerberus was, who also features FF7's "dark character", and gave him a gun in his own action game? :/

Eh, just proves to me that Shadow is lame. Sonic and Knuckles never needed to use guns to be "cool."

Shadow can't even run fast without his rocket boots. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to pass on this game.

According to the comics, the shoes are kind of a restraint for his feet won't wear out and can take the speed without damaging... apparently :/

This is highly debatable, actually. The actual origin of Sonic's speed (or Sonic himself) is very hazy. Sonic has been incarnated into many different forms of media. (The official games, cartoons, anime, comics, books, ect.) and each version has it's own universe and possible origin of Sonic and his speed.

The games themselves have multiple origins of which may or may not be incorrect. (A few cornball American origins and an extremely detailed Japanese origin that may or may not have been fan created.) As the games themselves never state ANYTHING about Sonic's true origins, I would say it's shrouded in mystery for now.

It all depends on which version you want to consider the truth. In some of them Sonic's shoes are the source of his speed, whereas in others the shoes are a restraint so that his feet don't melt off.

I think that he's able to run that fast regularly, and he can get special shoes (like out of the item boxes) that enable him to run even faster for a limited time, but the fact remains that he can hit intense speeds even without those special shoes. However, Shadow needs rocket powered boots to match Sonic's regular speed, making him inferior.

ok, well all we know is that Sonic is fast and so is Shadow. I go with the shoes are the source and that the shoes are the source of Shadow`s as well. It`s pointless to debate over this all we know is that Sonic is fast the end.
