man i havent played DDR in like forever... and i barely mafe the transition to Standard mode (w00t!)

Yes! It's such a fun song. I think it's from one of the DDREI's Tournamixes... and also is floating around out there as a single track.. hang on, let me look. *looks* Yep, it was from Tournamix 4. (not 4+, that is a different mix altogether) If you download the whole of TM4 from somewhere, be prepared to sort out a handful of tracks you'd rather not have in your collection ;p

I don't like the anime mixes, I think they're pretty lame actually. Plus I get tired of seeing 45093509435 different steps for 'sakura saku' every mix. Yeah, the bulk of all the anime mixes is pretty lame.. I found maybe 2 or 3 songs in every anime mix that is actually any good. Mostly they're just uncreative, unoriginal songs with very few songs that have steps above 7 feet, which is boring once you get any good at stepmania. Actually, I recall one song from one of the anime toshokan mixes, where the creator took the original DDR song 'sobasaku freckles' and the original steps, and added a kenshin background for it. Come on, please!!

Drop Out is a fun song to make people do a double-take... that end part is crazy, moreso than the jumps.. I also like doing that or Sakura Heavy or Burning Heat Heavy, those kind of freak people out.

As for the discussion about about the n00bs who bring 50 bucks to the arcade and won't get off, yeah, that's a pain sometimes. That's why we institute the coin line. It works when you don't have a soccer mom who is trying to get her gaggle of eight year olds to play who are going to painstakingly play on Beginner for like 9874584357 hours. I was playing Doubles at Putt Putt, and this lady comes up to me and taps me on the shoulder (while I'm playing) and demands I get off the machine so her kids can play. I was nice about it, 'cause hey, otherwise wouldn't have been a good wtiness. But still...she didn't even ask. Fun times.

I was playing Doubles at Putt Putt, and this lady comes up to me and taps me on the shoulder (while I'm playing) and demands I get off the machine so her kids can play. I was nice about it, 'cause hey, otherwise wouldn't have been a good wtiness. But still...she didn't even ask. Fun times.

That was quite rude indeed. Any passer-by can tell that the game demands your full concentration. There's this one guy I always see where I play, and he always gives me the same exact conversation every single time. While I'm playing he walks up to me and says "How old are you?" I reluctantly answer him... he walks away. A few minutes later he comes back and tells me he's stuck up here without gas money and wants a few bucks.

Anyways, I'm sorry to stereotype, but, middle-age women like that are more often than not, rude and/or moody. Could be their nearly constant dealings with their children, that's enough to put anyone in a bad mood. I work at a supermarket and it is a well-known fact there, that young/middle aged women are the most difficult customers to deal with. I suppose you'd have to excuse the lady though, for not understanding DDR, or the kosher form of conduct that DDR players are expected to observe (such as coin lines.) Just one of those times you have to take a deep breath, call it a day, pack up your stuff and go home.

that's why I like playing at home... It doesn't cost any money, I don't have to worry about looking like a dork, I won't have to live up to the 9 and 11 footers and people who've been playing for like 4 years and know how to order a burger and launch a nuclear attack on Toronto with the "Xanadu" song.

I still go to the arcade occasionally. It is certainly different in the Arcade than at home... The steps are a bit farther apart, you wear your shoes, and it's different songs on 4th Mix plus than on Max 2.

BTW, I like seeing people doing tricks on DDR... I have a few vids of trick DDR and PIU dancers.

If I have to share, I will be out of energy within half an hour. For some reason, once I start, I have to keep playing, playing, playing or else I will get wore out. No stopping to rest, no waiting for someone else to play a round. I have to have it all to myself! In that case, I can play up to three hours on 8-10 footers before I have to go home.
