Please pray!

Oh yay, another prayer request from Topaz!

So, a few months ago my mother got bitten badly by one of the cats at the non-kill shelter we are staff at. She ended up having to go to the hospital the next morning because it was all red and swelled up. Our insurance company just pretty much sent us a letter saying they won't pay for it. I'm really really stressed out and upset over this! My mom had to answer a few questions in the letter like wither she is going to sue or not, which we most certainly aren't, and she made a comment about finding our insurance company disgusting for not paying the bill.

A bit harsh, but I have kind of have to agree. Between paying for oil to heat the house this winter and the rest of the normal bills as well as the cost for clothes and food we aren't going to be able to pay for an expensive hospital bill without help from the insurance company. Maybe I'm not very in the loop with this sort of thing, but I can't believe they are doing this to us. Please pray our insurance company will change their minds and have mercy on us. It might not seem like a big deal for a lot of people, but we are sadly not a rich family. Thank you for your time.

Praying. Insurance companies will try to weasle out of paying for anything- that's how they make a profit. I'm sorry to hear they decided to pull that with your family.

Thank you for praying! It's really appreciated. I keep trying to remind myself I need to lean on God with this, but I can't help but be a little stressed out and worried. Honestly, they pick the weirdest things to not pay for. For example they paid for two tests I needed for my stomach around two years ago that were each over $500 even though the doctor wasn't really 'on their list' or something like that, but they won't pay for my mom's cat bite? I don't know anymore.

I feel ya on the frustration with insurance companies. :(

Most hospitals have a "Charity Care" or similar program for low-income families/if you can't afford to pay your hospital bill. Have you guys tried calling the hospital and asking for more info?

Not yet, I should probably suggest that once she comes home. Thanks for the info!

Wow. Sad. Greedy people out there, Topaz, there are some greedy people.

If I could get a job and pay for your mom's insurance bill I would.

The Business World is almost as cruel as the Underground World. Nonetheless, I 3will be praying for your mother's hand and for your finances.
