Considering grad school

Hey, everyone. I could really use some prayer. I've been out of a job for over a year and it's really frustrating. I've been putting out applications for places that I know I qualify for with my bachelor's degree in psychology, but I get passed over and other jobs I really would like to have ask for someone with a master's degree.

I talked with my husband about this, and he said if grad school is something I want to go after, he will support me :), for which I am very grateful. I looked over the application requirements, and the only obstacle would probably be time it'd take to secure the letters of recommendation and transcripts, plus taking the GRE. I know it'll take longer if I go through the program as a part-time student, but based on the plans my husband and I hope to put into action upon his return, being part-time shouldn't be an issue and I can always look for an on-campus job.

Still, I could use prayer. I really liked the outline of the program that caught my eye, but I want to be certain God's giving me the green light. I used to be real hesitant about the idea of going to grad school, but maybe, just maybe, this may be where He wants me. Thanks.

I'm calling the university in the morning. Pray it's a good conversation and I get all the info I need.

I've looked at the programs for 3 universities so far. The nearest one doesn't offer what I'm interested in, the one that stood out to me is a drive away (not long, but traffic will have to be factored in), and one that a friend suggested has a similar program I'm interested in and offers distance learning (aka online classes), but not for the program that caught my eye. Also, I'm not a fan of online coursework. Right now it looks like the 2nd option is the one.

What program(s) are you applying for?

Take the GRE as SOON as you can. Now is a good time. No later than October. November is pushing it. A lot of deadlines are around the december-january time so you gotta get your stuff in ASAP.

I spent a good couple of months applying to Ph.D programs last year. Didn't get into any. Meh oh well. But now I know how to apply for grad schools for when I eventually do again. So if you need help, hit me up.

Turns out that even though I'm a Navy wife, I can't utilize my husband's GI bill until he's been in for 6 years and re-enlists (currently been in for little over 5). Also, scholarships aren't offered for master's degrees. There are other options, including financial aid, but I really want to sit down with my husband before putting out my application. Still gonna do my part to get the GRE under my belt, but I might have to put a hold on the application submession for now. Pray we can find a solution that's affordable, especially with our future plans in mind. Thanks!
