Lift-equipped vehicle for Team Training

I will be needing a vehicle equipped with a lift for Team Training this summer (when I go to PA to go through training with my next service dog.) I use a scooter and will need to use it a lot during the 3 weeks of training.

None of the chain rental companies offer lift-equipped vehicles. There are 2-3 companies in that area that do. But all of them have quoted a rate of $90-99/day. $0.35/mile after first 100 miles each day. That comes to #2038.20 for the 3 week period. Plus airport pickup and drop off.

Please pray that some way will be opened to get around this issue. I have no idea how on earth I'll be able to raise enough money for airfare, housing, food, supplies, etc. plus the rental in 7 weeks. I don't have anyone helping me fundraise --I am doing it all on my own --contacting people/organizations and asking for help.

I have a friend in Philly who is looking into things for me to try to help me figure out a way to get what I need.

We're still looking and researching.

Friend in Philly found something for $1800, so we're hoping to find something even lower in cost.

I've only been able to raise $100 so far. I only have 48 days until Team Training and am starting to freak out a bit. I don't know how on earth I'll be able to fundraise another $5,900 plus the cost of a rental vehicle for the 3 weeks of training.

Please pray. I keep giving this situation to God. Then I take it back and freak out for a while. Then I give it back to God. Then I take it back again.

I'm going nuts.

Now I have 45 days to raise $6,000. O.O

I helped at the church Easter festival (at the church I help w/ the youth at.) I told a couple of the youth moms about my situation and asked if they had any ideas. One of them went and talked to a few other people --not 10 or 15 minutes later, I was approached by a man --he said, "I heard you need help getting a dog." I explained about Leon and Team Training in PA this summer.
He said that he may be able to get a flight for me to and from PA! He gave me his business card and I'm to call him this week (didn't today due to my accidental 4 hour nap.)

There is also the possibility that I may be able to get a host family in the area like I did the first time I went to Team Training in 2006.

Please pray for this situation. I have a HUGE paper due in 1 week that I haven't even started the research for b/c I've been so stressed and worried about this. I'm having to put the fundraising on the back burner for the week so I can get it done (so I can pass my Equine Repro class.) I don't think this would be a good excuse to my prof to not have it done.

45 more days until Team Training! Ah! I am under a tremendous amount of stress and pressure. If I don't raise the necessary funds, I don't go to Team Training. I can't take off school in the fall, I depend on the income from student loans. So, since Team Training is only this summer and this fall (my only 2 chances), I either go this summer or not at all. :(

I am struggling to get through Activities of Daily Living. Having a service dog again would help SO much and would help me regain some independence and self-sufficiency. Please, please pray for this situation. Getting people to help me physically with the leg work of fundraising (telling people, contacting businesses, hanging flyers) is like pulling teeth --even if it doesn't cost people any money, nobody seems to want to help at all. Not even the knitting group I've been a part of for 4 years. :(

I'll be praying. I wish I could help you, but as a college student, I barely have any money to support myself, even with a half-tuition scholarship and grant. (Doesn't help I live in the dorms)

You should do an activity such as a bake sale or carwash to raise money now that it is the season for it. Also hope you'll be able to finish the paper in time.

I just got off the phone a bit ago w/ the host family agency and they have a host family for me for Team Training!

Also, a friend offered me the use of her frequent flier miles! :D

Yea don't worry Sheenar, God don't want u to and just take one problem at a time. And next time when u have two priorities like this, give the least immediate to God and then concentrate on the problem that's due sooner

Update:

A friend of mine (who lives in NY) has also been matched with a dog and we are both going to attend training together!! AND we've been placed in the same host home! We can share driving to and from the training facility.:D

A lady with a medical supply company near where my friend lives has been working very hard and has, though people donating the funds, provided us with a lift-equipped van for the two of us to use during training! :D

Also, a local charity in my area (through a local Houston-based airline) is donating flights to and from PA for training!! I only have to pay $25!!! :D

So, yeah, lots to be thankful for! I leave for PA in 20 days and will then meet my new Canine Partner! :D

I am SO very happy that we have a lift-equipped van to use!! Erica can use her electric wheelchair and I don't have to take my scooter apart and put it back together (as I would need to if I had a regular rental car.) So there will be room for the two of us, our two dogs and our mobility devices. :D
