prayers for Althaia & her HS friends

Postby HitomiYuriko » Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:39 pm

One of Althaia's HS friends passed away yesterday at the age of 15. She huffing the dust-cleaner for your computer (with freon in it) and it frozed her lungs.

Just when I thought how stupid can a child be then I went to the drugstore and found out that there were some kids there huffing that stuff the night before.

Don't this kids know that there is freon in those cans. Why can't there be someone or control on where this items are placed. Because this kids take them from the shelves and walk around and huff this stuff. I think that we as parents should send a message to the FDA or someone to tell the stores to lock them up. So that our kids won't die.

What I believe is what I will become. I believe I am special and that there will never be another like me...not ever. I believe I have been blessed with certain talents that will allow me to serve a purpose higher that my own. I believe we are all connected and that despite our differences we are one. I believe in the power or love and its ability to heal all wounds. I believe there are no acts of coincidence only acts of God that work miraculously in my life. I believe that the lessons I learn will be the lessons I teach.

The thing is, when they're teens, they obviously know the stuff is dangerous- they just don't care. Locking them up in the stores wouldn't change a darn thing. They could always say they're picking it up for a parent- and that's entirely reasonable. I was running errands at 14 (I wasn't driving, obviously, but I walked to the store). What are you gonna do? Card 'em? Call their parents and comfirm it? And that still wouldn't change the fact that at 18, they're legal adults and can do pretty much whatever they want to with cleaners and chemicals. They might even live in their own place and use them for cleaning in addition to getting high.

I get what you're saying about the controls- but while that's a nice idea, I've seen similar controls for medication like Advil. And it wouldn't stop me from grabing it and popping a few if I so pleased, because I could dispense a bottle for myself.

I worked in a store. Unless you're gonna follow them around, there's no reasonable way to control what people take out of containers and eat or use. And people eat and use everything, from taking pens out of packages to eating bakery goods. And they aren't caught. Even with controls on where these things were or having a guard, it likely wouldn't stop them from wandering around with it and using it out of sight.

That's still old enough to know that stuff is dangerous. The only justification for not knowing at that age is being mentally handicapped. She obviously knew- and didn't care. She knew the risks when she put her nose to the spray. While I'm sorry she died, she was old enough to know better.

Didn't you say she was 18?that would make her either high school or colledge.
People don't do that stuff because they're stupid and don't know it's dangerous.
Anyways, I'll be praying

It not that she was stupid but it a peer thing but still she was too young to die. There is a website that I went to that said 12-15 yr olds are the one who experiment with these things. Most of the time its peer pressure from friends. And I hope that with the website people who have kids around this age will be more informed to what , when and how they can help with major problems with peer pressure and trying to fit in.
Here is the website:http://www.drugabuse.gov/infofacts/inhalants.html

When I was younger I self harmed. It was due to being unable to cope with emotional problems. Just like for alcoholics, the bottle is a symbol. And there are those who do cocaine, heroine and other drugs and they are 20, 30, 40, 50 years old!

My prayer goes out to her and her family and to those who knew her. It is sad that it happens at that age. Unfortunately it is also common. While my self harm wasn't huffing..it was equally as dangerous. I knew the danger, but I was in such despair that I simply wanted an escape and didn't care. I began self harming at the age of 12/13 years old. It isn't that they don't know the danger, half the time its because they think its worth it if it will take away the pain. Also it is my experience, while locking some things up will perhaps stop people from hurting themselves in one way...there are plenty of other ways to do so.

It brings home that younger people and of course people in general need prayer.

I will be praying that God will open their ears, their hearts, and their minds to God's love. ((( )))
I am on the forefront of battle against the demons of earth. All Praise and Glory be given to God Forever and Ever!
