Prayer for brothers and sisters in Muslim countries

Hi all,

Today, I heard news of a small church holding an event for burning Quran, while claiming to be Christian. I do not know why or what is going on, but please pray for the well being of the evangelistics in my church who went to muslim countries to preach about Jesus. I know they are already risking their lives, but this event further endangers us and the locals we converted.

Thanks

I have a feeling this thread may not be open long, but before it turns ugly, I want to say I agree with you 1000%. It sickens me when people do things like that out of hatred and claim Christ's name.

I will pray for the people from your church, and hope this does not ruin their efforts or put them in danger.

Agreed as well. I would also want to add the Muslims that are in the vicinity of any protests or other reactions, that they would be protected as well and not punished for just existing near someone's negative reaction to this incident.

I'd like to add the US soldiers who'll be the first to deal with the repricussions as well.

I completely agree with everyone here. I will definitely be praying that violence on all sides is kept to a minimum.

Sorry for the double post, but this seemed important enough to me to warrant a bump.

The pastor has cancelled the Qur'an burning and is now planning a meeting with the Imam.

(Please, no one comment on the political angle of this, it's good news all around.)

Our prayers have been answered for the fact that he will not go with the plan to burn the Quran, but I not sure if this is a good idea for him to meet with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.

USA Today wrote:Florida Rev. Terry Jones says he is canceling the planned burning of the Quran and instead flying to New York on Saturday to meet with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the planned New York mosque.

"We have agreed to cancel our event on Saturday and on Saturday I have agreed to meet with the imam," Jones said at a news conference in Gainesville, USA TODAY's Larry Copleland reports.

Whoa! that's... wow. I'm speechless. I'm utterly speechless. If that isn't God I don't know what is...

I'm still not convinced this will end well, but at least he's stopping the burning...that's at least somewhat good news.

Power of prayer Etoh.

We could pray for safety during the meeting.

I don't see why that would be necessary.

Actually in all honesty I'm not too keen on this whole him going to meet the Imam thing, I have a feeling it's just going to end with tempers flaring and both sides of the debate being angry at the other side.

Though to be fair, an argument would hardly have caused the problems that a burning would have caused, but I don't see why the burning just can't be dropped and that be the end of it.

EDIT: Sigh. Never mind. Looks like we were prematurely happy. The pastor has now said it isn't canceled, just "suspended." He seems like he still plans on doing it, just not on 9/11 now. Also he's trying to coerce the Imam and saying he won't do it depending on what the Imam does.

I knew he'd pull this kind of crap. I hate people.
