Are We Cursed?

Don't know if this belongs in here (mighty overmods, please feel free to move it as see fit), but anyway. I was just wondering what your views are on being cursed, because it does indeed feel so at home. There's almost always a very tense, stressed atmosphere and things are constantly breaking (and with my mother's financial situation they usually stay broken). Also we seem to have a lot of problems regarding water (pipes, drains, geysers, etc). Someone once told me that water problems mean a significant demonic presence (don't know if that's bulldust). It just seems and feels that things are constantly going WRONG.

Anyway, yeah. Guess this is more of a question, but prayers are also welcome I guess.

Things happen. Demons don't really break things as much as bother people psychologically. They don't have power over the physical world. But God has power over everything. If God is making things go wrong he has a reason for it. Forget about curses and demons and ask God what's going on instead.

Our pump that takes away the refuse broke today. Again. My mom cried.

Maybe it's time to move? I can't determine if it's a curse or work of demons, but if stuff keeps breaking down, maybe it's time to find another place to live. Praying for ya.

I don't believe that for an instant, after Jesus drove Legion out of that guy they took over some pigs and forced the pigs to kill themselves. Unless you're saying pigs can be bothered psychologically but that gives them intelligence attributes that I'm not convinced they have.

I agree with K.Ayato ^^ Maybe, moving is the best thing to do ^^ They sound like mere typical house problems ^^ I do understand why that may not be doable with your mom's financial situation though 8(

I'll continue to pray ^^

If it's demons, you've got nothing to fear since God is sovereign over them and if you call and rely on him they will be driven out.

However, from what you've been describing I think it's more of just things breaking down in your house. From what I've heard from reliable sources, if you have a demonic presence in your house weirder things will happen (like objects randomly flying across the room). Now, if these are all brand new things that are breaking then maybe...but even then I would say it's probably not demons.

I don't really believe in curses but I do think that you or someone else can do something to bring a demonic influence upon yourself or others. However, from what you've said, I doubt this is the case since usually "curses" come from things that are viewed as being pagan and you didn't mention any of that in your post.

Despite all of this, I would still suggest praying about it. God can and will provide for you. I'll be in prayer myself about this whole situation.

Regarding demons, I believe that they can do physical types of things, not just psychological. A good friend of mine who used to be a youth pastor came across all sorts of kids, and there were times when she said you could see the imprints on a youth's neck from the demon squeezing it, trying to make them not able to speak. They had to pray for their house to be cleared of demons every time they had a youth group at their house (every Friday) so that their kids wouldn't have horrible nightmares because of the demonic presence. I also know about other times when demons have tried to physically harm God's children.

Demons are as real as you and me (although I don't believe in curses). It's a fact that demons exist, but we don't have to let them overpower us. God is bigger than that.

I was just reminded of a passage my Sunday School teacher asked us to look up last week. Galatians 5:16-25...I'll put it down here in the New Living Translation, which is the translation my Bible is.

16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

=) Anyways, I'll still be praying for you. :)

Don't ignore demons but also don't look for them under every bush. That gives them more power and authority than they deserve. I believe there are such things are curses but, for example: having your car break down most likely isn't the fault of demons but is more likely the result of not having the foresight to go to the mechanic when you should have.
Another example: you most likely didn't go to sleep in church because demons wanted you to not taste God's Word but because you didn't get decent sleep the night before.
I think it's time for Christians (as a whole) to be more responsible for their actions and not blame demons for their laziness/stupidity.
(I'm not saying this is what you're doing).

I'll be praying for you, mate.

I don't believe that Christians are cursed. Now, there are going to be situations that we are going to have to face but with our faith in The Lord and Guidance from The Holy Spirit we will get through them. I will pray that things will get better, in Jesus Name things will get better! God bless!!!

i don't believe CHRISTians are cursed, but i believe that the evil ones exist, and they are the reason why it seems that life is trying to knock us on our knees... but rejoice, having JESUS within us means Victory... GODbless!
