Urgent Prayer for a Kitten

Okay guys...I'm nervous here. This is a prayer request for my kitten, Junior.

Well, you see, we just got home from the movie theatre. Immediately I went to go check on Junior, as he stays in our bathroom when we're away. I get inside to an uninviting site. Litter is thrashed around and near the toilet is a urine spot. The thing is, his litter box was not four inches away, and pretty clean, considering it had been cleaned earlier in the day.
So I inched close to the spot and was about to clean it up when I noticed something stringy within it. Something stringy and coiled. And it was moving. I checked the litterbox and found a spot that looked bubbly, and saw another stringy-something within it.

So um...yeah...Junior has worms. Pray that he recovers and gets better soon, please! This is disgusting...I've never actually dealt with this before :( Pray that our dogs haven't contracted the worms from him...err...they've gotten into the litter before, so it's very possible they now have them. :shady:

Thank you, everyone. I'll keep you as updated as I am informed of more information.

Ewww I have yet to witness something like that >_< Can people catch them from pets? I think they might, can't remember... I just know a type of worm that if you simply touch it, it can spore eggs on your skin >_< *shudders*

Hope you poor little kitty gets better and they don't spread...

Okami, calm down. Every single one of my pets had tapeworm when they were babies. It's pretty much just a fact of life for kittens and puppies and most all other mammals. Kitty will be fine, gross though it is, once you get him to the vet and... yeah... suffice to say they'll give Junior stuff to make those things... slide out. XD Just separate him from the other pets (bathroom is a good room for kitty) and avoid picking him up as much as possible until the worms are gone. Moreso, if you have any younger siblings, don't let them pick him up. Have someone older do it, because there is a very rare chance that little kids can get worms from it (*Would insert a gross out spoiler tag here if I knew how to* because their intestines are smaller... that's why worms go to baby animals instead of full grown ones). The worms do NOT lay eggs on your skin though, and if you're not a toddler or little kid you're perfectly fine.

Prayers for you and kitty!

He seems to be doing better now. None of the animals were taken to a vet; but we got advice from family and friends (some of them with expertise in this area) and one of the friends helped us get some medication from the local vet. We gave the dogs their monthy HeartGard, which helps to get rid of worms. And the medication we recieved wee some pills. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND MADE CAT PILLS?! Nastiest job ever. Eventually we crushed and syringed the meds to Mitsi and Tracy, and Junior had a different treatment, but he too recieved his dosage. (I wasnt in the room while he was given his meds)

Thank you all for the prayers, and please continue to pray. The cats probably wont like us much in the morning XD (side effects are pretty brutal with the pills)

XD Cat pills... ugh... the owner's worst nightmare. I like it better when they either do it themselves with the shot, or I have to use a liquid syringe and just shoot it down them. Glad to hear the kitties are doing well though and I'll continue to pray! The HeartGard is definitely good, as heartworm is more serious than tapeworm. The babies usually have tapeworm... heartworm is kinda rare. Glad you got the meds from a vet, because a lot of the store bought de-worming meds can have bad side effects on kitty's health. Keep up the good kitty raising! Junior will thank his human mommy for this later! Well... if he could talk... okay he'll probably just scratch you for giving him pills but... eh... yeah. :thumb:
