Insecure about my future.

Well, first of all, I was almost certain I was going to volunteer in Canada within a bible translating company the next Autumn. However, I spoke with my study counsellor today and she thought it was a bad idea. She thought it would be better to wait until I've got my studies done. But that would cause another problem, because postponing the plan with a year wouldn't fit into my friend's (who is coming with me) schedule.
So we've got a problem here.. would you please pray for us to find a solution? Of course it might be true that this really isn't what God wants me to do and this is the way He's trying to make me understand it. I don't really know.

Prayers for you. I know what it's like to have no certainty about one's future plans.

Who is your study counselor? Is it your assigned school counselor?
Is she a Christian? If not, please disregard that particular opinion of hers.
Even if so, my experience has been that such counselors do not always have the same priorities that you might. If you and some trusted brethren in Christ have discerned that God wants you to do a year of service, by all means, do not let this person hold you back.
I will be praying for you. Please let us know what you decide.

Anna Mae has a point. Your study counselor is free to give her opinion on what you can or cannot pursue, but she can't make the decision to follow through with whatever decision looks the best in your stead. It all boils down to what you decide.
I'll be praying.

If you know, in your heart of hearts, that this is what God wants you to do, than you should go for it with everything you got. You shouldn't let ANYONE stop you from spreading the Word of God.

Yeah, echoing everyone else with how the counsellor has made a suggestion, but it's up to you... Praying for it all...

I don't know if my counselor is Christian or not. I'm going to disscuss this further with her tomorrow.
She has a point, of course. I would probably forget a lot of things until the time I would come back.. Because volunteering would mean being out of school for a year. And I'm still going to graduate, because I'm gonna try to get into a university. Of course my English skills would come a lot better, but I would forget all about maths, French, psychology..
I don't know how possible it is for my friend to wait a year until leaving. I would probably have to wait until she gets her studies done, so if we can't leave now, the whole thing would be postponed for 2 years maybe...
I don't know yet. I'll inform you if there's a change in the situation.
//Oh, and thank you all for praying and advice. You're all very kind and I appreciate it. ^.^

Ok now I discussed this thing with my counselor and made a decision: I will volunteer in the summer 2008. I'm so glad we made up a new schedule for our plan. We had never even thought about going in the summer, but now it seemed like the best idea. ^.^
Thank you all for praying.

Just remember what Rem says in Trigun:
"Your ticket to the future is always blank."
